The Highlight Of My Week

I found out about a month ago that my favorite author, Mary Higgins Clark would be coming to Layton on April 21st, so of course I was all excited to go. I asked Kaylene if she wanted to go and surprisingly enough, she said yes. I have read most of her books, so I was very excited to meet her. So last Tuesday Kaylene and I along with some of our dear friends headed to Northridge High School in Layton. The paper said she would be speaking at 7 pm, so if you wanted a good seat to come early, and the doors opened at 6:30 pm. So we did, we got there about 5:45 and it was amazing how many people were already there. So we made our way through, past the line that was to buy her book.( I was smart and had already purchased mine at Costco) to our spot on the stairs and waited for the doors to open. At 6:30 the doors opened and it was a mad dash for the front row. We got to our seats and I could hardly stand the wait. Finally out she came with her daughter (who is also a mystery writer) and everyone of us gave them a standing ovation. They talked for an hour and then they announced that they would be signing books so out we went to get in line. If you notice, the end of the line ends pretty much behind the guy in the white shirt way over there against the wall, there is just a couple of people behind him. Now from where he is standing the authors are almost straight across. Yeah it was crazy! It took us almost two hours to get up to the table where they were. But hey we were having fun talking and watching all these people. But Finally we were getting close. Mary Higgins is the one in blue, with her daughter Carol

After 2 hours it was our turn. We talked for just a short minute and then we got our picture taken with them. See the stairs to the right? Yeah, that's where we sat to wait to get in. These ladies were so nice to talk too. They even thanked us for waiting for hours to get to them. I was so glad that I was able to do this.
If you are ever looking for a great mystery book to read, I would suggest you pick up Mary Higgins Clark. You won't be disappointed. People ask me which one is my favorite book of hers and I have to say every time, "Before I Say Goodbye". I am almost done with her new book and I have to say it is very good.
